All the news of the v2
I want my program to be the best in Switzerland for starting to invest in the stock market.
So I spent several months collecting feedback from previous participants. Then I set about crossing out, editing, rewriting, adding, deleting, simplifying… As a result, the final quality is now a whole lot better.
And here’s the complete list of changes and improvements:
Fears
- A list of all the well-founded - and groundless - fears your brain finds to prevent you from getting into the stock market, with clear, concise, rational answers as to why it won’t be able to stop you!
- And in particular: how I reasoned my irrational brain with the fear of losing everything by investing with a US-based broker…
Configuration and setup
- Which brokerage account configuration to choose for investing as a couple
- etf.com tutorial explaining how I got to my VT ETF (because until now, I’ve only talked about justETF as it’s the only platform in the blog’s 3 languages)
- What should I do with the composition of my ETF portfolio (Swiss equities) if I plan to leave Switzerland in a few years’ time?
- How can I take my 2nd pillar money into account when allocating my investment portfolio?
- The differences between ETF search sites, and how it affects your investment portfolio construction
- What type of portfolio should I create for my child?
Taking action
- How can I be sure I’m buying the right stock on Interactive Brokers (via ISIN search)
- I have several currencies available for the same ETF in the search results. Which one should I choose?
- Increased granularity in describing the steps involved in taking action (CHF transfer, USD conversion, purchase) - all logical stuff for me after all these years, but not so simple when you’re just starting out
- What’s the difference between realized and unrealized losses?
- How can I automate my investments?
- How do I transfer money from my bank account to my DEGIRO account?
- What information should I look for on DEGIRO to know if my portfolio is “healthy”?
- A plethora of FAQs on how to buy your first ETF (how to define the price at which to buy, how to choose your order type). It all sounds like Chinese when you put it like that, but I’ll break it all down for you in jargon-free, child’s play mode!
Format
- Chapters reorganized to optimize digestibility and learning fluidity without feeling like “too much at once”
- Even more context for each web link, so you know what to expect when you click on them
- Update of all web links (i.e. the small bug due to the change of design of my website is corrected)
You will have the possibility to verify your purchase.
